Customize search results sublayout

I'm looking to do a couple of things with a custom coveo search results sublayout. I duplicated the search results sublayout from coveo and I am in the process of styling it and I noticed that as I update the styles some things don´t seem to work and I wanted to know where to look for in order to make them work.

So in the case of 0 results on a search how do I make that "Did you mean?" to show? It is selected on my sublayout configurations but I can´t seem to understand why that won´t show. Or at least to customize the search results and display a friendly message.

Also is it possible to update that spinning wheel icon when the search is first loading?

The "Did you mean?" section is displayed when the index detects that your search terms are probably wrong (either because of a typo, less results than another similar term…). This is not related to the "No results" section that is displayed when the query returns 0 results. There's already a few questions about the "No results" customization on Answers. Do a search in the top-right corner to find them. They probably answers your question.
