SharePoint Claims Authentication Query Parameter

On step 5 of https://developers.coveo.com/display/public/SearchREST/On-Premises+SharePoint+Claims+Authentication , the documentation suggests that an authentication query parameter must be sent as part of the request in order for the REST service to use the claims retrieved from SharePoint. I can't find any examples of this anywhere and I don't know what to set the parameter value to. Is an "authentication" parameter required and if so what should it be set to?

I am not entirely sure of your question, you do not need to generate the cookie or manage it yourself, it is generated automatically when the Claim is received:

...then issues a signed authentication cookie containing the claims information. The cookie also includes login information from the primary authentication provider...

Then when a query is made agains the REST endpoint, the authentication cookie will be automatically included. The REST will redirect this request to the index, which will return documents according to the query filters and the content of the authentication cookie.

Hope it make more sense.
Cheers
