XML custom metadata syntax

When adding custom metadata to a Sitemap as follows:

<url>
    <loc>http://www.mysite.com/content/documents/content-types/installation-guide/product-model-submodel-installguide.pdf</loc>
    <lastmod>2015-05-10</lastmod>
    <coveo:metadata>
        <Product>Product 1; Product 2; Product 3</Product>   #products related to above document
        <PSN> Category1 / Category2 / Category3 </PSN>     # categories related to document
        <SO>Software Category</SO>
        <DT>Installation and Upgrade Guides</DT>
        <TS>mysite.com</TS>
    </coveo:metadata>
</url>

Do i need to replace spaces by %20 are multiple values separated by semi colon's or can I use a comma?

I did not find any specifications on http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/ regarding this. Thanks in advance

In CES (and the sitemap), fields that contain multiple values are separated with semicolon (;) without any white space between each values. Example: Product 1;Product 2;Product 3.
