Coveo for Sitecore Upgrade to 1266: Cannot get the security provider from the Admin Service

We recently upgraded our Coveo for Sitecore from 3.0.1116.0 to 3.0.1266.0. After the upgrade we received the following warnings in the Sitecore Logs.

ManagedPoolThread #12 14:21:53 INFO Using existing source '[Index] - [Provider Name]'.

ManagedPoolThread #12 14:21:53 WARN Cannot get the security provider ID from the Admin Service. Please make sure Coveo Enterprise Search is up-to-date. You may need to update the source manually to use the correct security provider.

ManagedPoolThread #12 14:21:54 INFO Coveo requirements have been updated. Update will be suspended until further changes or application restart.

The provider defined in the Coveo Configuration on Sitecore and the provider in CES match.

Is there a need to also update CES to a later version or is Coveo Enterprise Search 7.0 x64 (7814) for Sitecore still compatible with this later version of Coveo for Sitecore?

Hi Nick,

Your Coveo Enterprise Search instance is August 2015, while you are using Coveo for Sitecore March 2016.

The two need to be in sync at all time. You can find the download links here:

Hey Simon,

Just to be clear, you're saying there is no backwards compatibility between earlier versions of CES and Coveo for Sitecore? So for every upgrade we do for CES or Coveo for Sitecore, we need to upgrade CES, Search API, and Coveo for Sitecore.

That's exact. When updating Coveo for Sitecore, you need to update CES and Coveo Search API at the same time.

Be aware that Coveo for Sitecore V4 (coming at the end of April) will provide a Cloud option which will handle the Coveo/Rest API components for you.

Thanks @simon and @jflheureux.

One last question. Is there any possibility of running the update/installer quietly from the command line? As you know, our infrastructure is quite large and having this as an automated task via our Octopus tentacle would greatly reduce the risk of us running this manually on every machine.
