Facet filtering affecting ranking

I am having an issue with Coveo for Sitecore where an advanced query expression to filter based on the fullpath of an item is affecting the ranking of the results.

I have an advanced query expression that is filtering on two locations in order to ensure that we only pull back relevant results (@ffullpath56890 = "/sitecore/content/home" OR @ffullpath56890 = "/sitecore/media library") and I am querying on a term "computer". When I receive the results back I am getting items that contain the word "library" ranked higher than words with the search term, "computer", due to term weights being applied based on the filters for the full path.

Why are the strings that I am using as advanced query facet filters being applied as general term weights? Is there something I can do to stop this behavior? I would expect that the terms that are specified as the filters would not be weighted as general terms when searching.

Have a look at You can list some fields for which no ranking will be applied.

I saw that but reading that it appeared to me that it's not that ranking is being applied to that field but rather that the terms being used in the filter are being applied to general ranking. No access to the admin so I was trying to be sure before making the request.

"Ranking ignored fields" mean that keywords used in field expressions for those fields won't be included in the ranking computation, so that's what you're looking for.

@jflh mentioned to me that in Coveo for Sitecore this setting is available "in sitecore". I'm no expert on that particular product, but be advised. He may chime in as well later.

That worked, thanks. I believe that managing ranking functionality from sitecore is an enterprise license only feature, unfortunately we are only on the pro license.
