Does SitecoreUsername and SitecorePassword have to be Sitecore\admin?

Looking at the installation guide for Coveo for Sitecore (Installing coveo for Sitecore On Premises) I noticed that the sitecore\admin username and password are used in order to retrieve security permissions. We've ran into a few situations where the admin account was locked out (we've since ensured that everything is in-sync with our credentials and Rijndael encryption keys across our configs/servers) but it made me wonder, is it a MUST that we use the sitecore\admin credentials or can we use any admin credentials or other credentials with the appropriate permissions as the SitecoreUsername and SitecorePassword in the coveo.searchprovider.config?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can use any admin account or an account that have:

  • Full access to the Sitecore security information.
  • Full read access to all the Sitecore items (for the HtmlContentInBodyWithRequestsProcessor if your website has a login form).
  • Full read access to the templates subtree (for listing the template fields in the default sort field configuration of a search component).
