coveo for sitecore architecture

Currently we are having 3 data-center, one authoring site-core server which is present on one of the data-center.

we need to setup 3 CES for 3 data-center. But we are having one authoring server , so we will install coveo for site-core on this machine, which will point to one CES server and able to index one data-center.

How we index 3 data center in 3 CES server using one authoring site-core with one coveo for site-core?

please let me know your valuable points.

Thanks Swami

Hi Swami,

You are right when you mention that Coveo for Sitecore is able to index only in one CES index at a time, the CES master index. Additionally, your license allows you to index in only one.

I assume that you are using Coveo for Sitecore 4.0 and have this setup for my answer:

  • Data center 1:
    • Sitecore Content Management/Authoring (CM) server
    • Main Sitecore databases
    • Coveo Enterprise Search master index server
  • Data center 2:
    • Sitecore Content Delivery (CD)
    • Replicated Sitecore databases (same content, synchronized with the data center 1 databases)
  • Data center 3:
    • Sitecore Content Delivery (CD)
    • Replicated Sitecore databases (same content, synchronized with the data center 1 databases)

To have a Coveo index in every data center, you should use CES index mirrors. Mirrors are not indexing documents but are synchronized with the CES master index each time an indexing transaction is applied. CES mirrors job is to answer search queries.

You will have to install and synchronize a CES mirror in each data center except the one with the CES master index. Then, you will need to configure your Sitecore content delivery (CD) servers in each of the data centers to connect to the local CES mirror for queries.

All of this is explained clearly in our scaling guides:
