Question by ken thomas, Nov 15, 2016 2:49 PM

what role can design the search page and how facets and tabs are configured?

this page about roles https://onlinehelp.coveo.com/en/cloud/coveocloudv1organizationuser_roles.htm does not describe how facets are set up and what roles can set them up.

what role can set up the search page and configure how the facets work (what facets are shown for each source and what content is included in each facet)?

If you are using Coveo for Salesforce, this is managed within the user permissions within Salesforce, not Coveo. Usually, Salesforce administrators have rights to edit the interface (which includes facets). The Coveo org is used to manage the content that will be indexed by Coveo (or view analytics data and so on).

Permissions within Coveo, do not reflect on the permissions within Salesforce, since these are two separate entities.

For information on salesforce permissions, please refer to https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=permissionsaboutusersaccess.htm&type=0&language=enUS&release=204.13

Thank you for the reply, but I do not think that is correct. We are using Coveo for Salesforce, but the roles for Coveo are in Coveo, not in Salesforce. In Coveo, the owner has to invite people to the org for them to have any powers whatsoever in the coveo cloud admin webpage. This has to happen for the user to do anything related to coveo set up and reporting in the cloud admin webpage. The salesforce security is totally different and unrelated to the question I am asking.

I am asking what Coveo role has the ability to set up the facets are set up. I am also curious as to where and how this is adjusted and changed.

Hi Ken, I think we do not understand what you are meaning with "the ability to set up the facets are set up".

A facet is a Coveo search page UI component, not an index feature. It requires a numeric, datetime or string field configured to be available for facetting.

Can you explain your use case in more details please?

Thanks

facets are the filters that are used in the coveo search. someone has to configure them, they dont set themselves up. I logged a ticket with Coveo to get the answer. facets are set up in Salesforce. the super admin user , Modify all data permission, is the "role" that can do it. its not tied to coveo roles at all. There is some set up in cloud admin, but the ui work is done in salesforce.

the new version documentation does not have this info, but based on my ticket they are going to try to get this info added. I was told the legacy info, see link above, is still mostly correct around this topic.
