Adding searchable knowledge categories - Coveo for Salesforce Free (pro)

Context: looking at Coveo to support us in an effort to create a library in Salesforce, based on Lightning Knowledge articles.

Search functionality will be very important and I really like the Salesforce integration Coveo is offering.

The question: How can we make Knowledge categories searchable (as a filter) within the Coveo search engine? I know adding Knowledge fields is possible but am unclear whether I can add the related list "Categories" as a search filter as well.

Secondary question: Can this be done using the free edition?

For the free version, it is possible to do so with some developement effort, we have a detailed explanation of the steps involved to achieve this here. However, there are some limitations when using this method.

As for the Pro version, we already map the the parent data categories to knowledge articles alongisde its child values, this allows you to create category facets. In our current pro release, you need to create a facet for each Category. We are currently working on supporting Data Categories in both versions Out of the Box, however, this may not be available until some time next year.

I am indexing the salesforce kb content in enterprise version but the data category information is not being indexed.

1) what are the permissions required by the crawling account to ensure that data categories are indexed along with KB content?

2) what are the fields that should be shown in the salesforce kb index configuration with data category information?
