500 error when special characters exist on title in Recommendations end point

I understand Coveo tracks page history and visits of the end user and sends it to the recommendations end point as form data. Now, when the title of the item that is added to the history has special characters. It is throwing dangerous request exception.

Any work around to this? Unfortunately, the special characters in the title is mandatory and we can not that strip that off from content perspective.

Sample History entry causing issue looks like:

[{"name":"PageView","value":"url of the page visited","time":"\"2019-02-06T21:16:27.451Z\"","title":"JS-4.2A ARIES<sup>™</sup> Swinging-Bucket Rotor and Buckets "}

I think this use case was just not handled by our script.

If you feel adventurous, you could take a look at the "coveoua" script used to log page views here:

We might just be missing some encoding on some URL values.
