Why the index status is "Not started"?

Hi everyone, sometimes when I do a Coveo First Time installation or if I delete the index and re-index again from Sitecore, the Coveowebindex has the status "Not Started". I see that status from the http://localhost:8081 site.

What I can do to start it or what is the recommendation here?

Hi,

When that happens, is it after launching a rebuild of the Coveowebindex? It is normal that the source is created by Coveo for Sitecore but not started if you don't tell Sitecore to index any document in that index.

Can you give me this information please?

  • Coveo for Sitecore version (Major.Minor and build number)
  • Coveo Enterprise Search version (Major.Minor and build number)
  • Sitecore version (Major.Minor and revision number)
  • Is there any error in the logs when that happens?

Hi @jflheureux ♦♦, that happened to me during and after the indexing process launched via Sitecore control panel. After deleting the index and try again several times it show the state as "idle" that is ok, but not sure why before it was showing the state "Not Started"

I am using the following:

  • Coveo for Sitecore 80 3.0 (1123)
  • Coveo Enterprise Search 7.0 x64 (7914) for Sitecore
  • Sitecore.NET 8.0 (rev. 150812)

To check the log file I went to http://localhost:8081/Logs/LogsViewer/System.aspx and I see the following:

ERROR 01:49:29 PM A read timeout occurred while connecting to 172.29.0.53.
WARNING 10:11:22 AM The mail alert system is not properly configured. 
WARNING 09:52:11 AM Error while expanding group <Member name="ord\domain users \S-1-5-21-2132334722-3716759306-125518809-513\" type="Group" /> (class CSP::SecurityException: Cannot connect to LDAP '387403-orddc01' as "". Error code : 81.) 
ERROR 09:51:58 AM class CGLFile::FileCannotOpenException: An error occurred while opening the read-only file "C:\Program Files\Coveo Enterprise Search 7\instance/License.txt". (The system cannot find the file specified. [0x00000002]) 
WARNING 09:51:58 AM The mail alert system is not properly configured.

Just one question, from the Indexing Manager in Sitecore, are you able to rebuild the two Coveo indexes? Do you see documents indexed in the CES Console? https://onlinehelp.coveo.com/en/ces/7.0/administrator/usingtheces_console.htm

Hi @Simon ♦♦ correct all gets indexed correctly, and from the localhost:8081 in the content tab the content is there but the index showed the not started status. Now after deleting and re-indexing that status is now idle, but I just was wondering why I experimented this.
